Henri Matisse created Venus when he was in his seventies. Unable to draw or paint, he started a series of now famous on paper cutouts. Limitations sometime are an advantage.

Henri Matisse aveva circa settanta anni quando creo' la Venere. Incapace di disegnare o dipingere, inizio' una serie di collages adesso famosi. Le limitazioni sono a volta un vantaggio.

"The legs of the Venus are short, pointed and asymmetrical... The split between the two halves of the buttocks is deep and continues without interruption to the front of the figurine, where the vulva with pronounced labia majora is visible between the open legs" (Nicholas J. Conard, discoverer of the Hohle-Fels Venus).

The Venus of Hohle Fels was discovered in Germany in 2008. It is a sculpture in Mammoth tusk dating to 40,000 years ago, the oldest example of figurative art known. So old that is uncertain if the artist was an homo Sapiens or a Neanderthal. In other words, a possible proof that art trascend the human race.

La Venere di Hohle Fels e' stata scoperta in Germania, nel 2008. E una scultura in zanna di mammouth risalente a 40.000 anni fa, l'esempio piu' antico di arte figurativa. Cosi' antico che non e' certo se l'artista era un Homo Sapiens o un Neanderthal. In altre parole, la possibile prova che l'arte trascende la razza umana.
