For this Christmas week, we present a set of variations on the theme of the Virgin with Child, so common in Christian iconography. Themes have been used in art for millennium. The theme of Venus, for example, spreads now across 3000 years, from the early Greek sculptures to the Basquiat interpretation in the XX century. They are way to channel the emotional feeling of a period through a canonized (ritual if we want) way of expression. We start the week of Virgin and Child with this spectacular, non-trivial, magnificent painting of Piero della Francesca, from the Italian renaissance.

Per questa settimana di Natale, una variazione sul tema della Vergine con il Bambino, così cara all'iconografia cristiana. I temi sono stati utilizzati in arte per millenni. Il tema della Venere per esempio, e stato usato per oltre 3000 anni, dalle prime sculture greche alla interpretazione di Basquiat nel XX secolo. I temi sono una maniera per canalizzare le sensazioni emotive di un periodo attraverso un soggetto canonizzata (rituale se vogliamo) di espressione.
