I have known this great photographer by his masterpiece "HEKURA" an illustrated work of great excellence on the Ama diving girls of Japan. I have since 1970 visited this pearl of an island almost every year - till it became a tourist haunt of doubtful repute. Thanks to Mr Maraini, the people and the place still lives through his book!
